Taking time for Myself

Gotten lil busy from the time I have returned from Canada...

Returned back on 16th July (Sunday), Took nice rest whole day + washing n cleaning...
Monday First day after returning back was fun, meeting frnds, sharing my exp, giving chocs to frnds etc..
Tuesday to Friday Office, Jet lag was still there and work too, got myself a new place to sit which is much more silent than how it used to be before, but I guess I enjoy the silence to an extent(For a Change)  Getting to know the difference in my energy levels from how it used to be in Canada n here...

There I used to get up soon, cook, pack, walk to subway, catch train, walk to office, office work, back to hotel, cook again for dinner, sometimes roam around too, browse the net, watch something over net/TV, pack for tomo lunch n plan for tomo breakfast, I still had time n energy n again go to bed early too..

Here, I felt my energy levels hv definitely gone down, commuting is consuming all the TIME+ ENERGY leaving me lethargic n adding up STRESS!! :'( Is there a escape to this???

Hubby n me proposed that we should go to a family trip to Vellore, with no much preparation we (10 ppl- MIL, FIL, Elder SIL Family (3), Younger SIL(2), BIL and us) embarked on the Weekend trip to vellore, golden temple on Saturday morning and returned back late Sunday night..
(The Golden temple trip itself deserves a separate blog)

Monday, unable to get up and forced by hubby took leave and stayed back to tidy up stuff @ home, cleaning, unpacking and unwinding... :)
Again back to office Tuesday with more work load and lil more energy..

Thursday went to Herbs n Spices, Whitefield with new team (around 18ppl) for lunch n had fun..  Missed my old team for sure.. but change is the only constant thing isnt it!
A long pending task of cleaning god's idols was accomplished followed by a Bhaktiful pooja to god from hubby n me.

Events lined up to look froward to :

Today, Friday- going to a Lunch party with friends L n G, It is G's B'day treat to Rajdhani @ Whitefield..
(after planning for a long long time we are finally going now (Fingers crossed))

How cud I say No when G commented - "Chalo Chalo lets go this Friday I can imagine the big Thali of Rajdhani right here in front of me" and when L has lost her mind completely as she is now officially jobless (actually serving notice period) she is the perfect eg of "Idle mind is a devil's workshop"

Later in the night- 9:50 pm ZNMD movie with hubby @ Fun cinemas, Cunningham..
Saturday - Relaxing + ticking off priority items in the To-do List
Sunday- Looking frwd for parents visiting us, Bro cannot make it as he is on a trip this weekend!
Actually Sunday is Hubby's B'day day if you go by Hindu Calendar too..

August 12th-  My First Varamahalakshmi Festival.
Aug 13- 15th-  Long weekend, Hubby is pressing to go to Pondi, but I am pressing to stay back n relax @ home... TBD
Aug 14th-  Mom's B'day- I guess she will be in their planned trip to Vellore as it is a Long weekend
Aug 28th- Hubby's B'day, looking frwd to it!!

Sept 1- Holiday n Ganesh Chathurthi, my First Ganesh Chathurthi @ home here as I was at parents for the first time..
Sept 5-  Big day for us!! Not Teacher's day but our Anniversary!! Is it already a year that I am married?? OMG.. Time flies!!

Oct 3- Bro's B'day.. I really hope n wish he gets a girl of his choice soon n gets settled soon too..
Oct 20th- Our Love Anniversary...The day I said, "I do"
Family to approach BIL's GF's family on their marriage talks, hope they settle soon

Nov-  B'days in our family are lined up... MIL, Mintoo, BIL .. Last year we had celebrated all the B'day's together n had fun!

Dec- Nothing particular till now.. May be saying good Bye to the lovely 2011 and welcoming another year of joy, peace n happiness!!

I now truly understand the phrase "Having short term goals, happiness, hopes gives so much pleasure to self"

I just pray to god to shower his blessing on us forever and fill our lives with joy n happiness along with good health n wealth

Not Just another Frwd Mail, It is the harsh truth but very sweetly said

Received this fwd mail from a friend L and is really worth a blog by itself..
Chetan Bhagat's Article in today's TOI : Specially for Indian Women.... Do Read it girls...
"Alright, this is not cool at all. A recent survey by Nielsen has revealed that Indian women are the most stressed out in the world: 87% of our women feel stressed out most of the time. This statistic alone has caused me to stress out. Even in workaholic America, only 53% women feel stressed.

What are we doing to our women? I'm biased, but Indian women are the most beautiful in the world. As mothers, sisters, daughters, colleagues, wives and girlfriends - we love them. Can you imagine life without the ladies?

One, Don't ever think you are without power. Give it back to that mother-in-law. Be who you are, someone she wished you would be. She doesn't like you? That's her problem.
Two, If you are doing a good job at work and your boss doesn't value you - tell him that, or quit. Talented, hard-working people are much in demand.
Three, Educate yourself, learn skills, network - figure out ways to be economically independent. So next time your husband tells you that you are not a good enough wife, mother or daughter-in-law, you can tell him to take a hike.
Four, Do not ever feel stressed about having a dual responsibility of family and work. It is difficult, but not impossible. The trick is not to expect an A+ in every aspect of your life. You are not taking an exam, and you frankly can't score cent per cent (unless you are in SRCC, of course). It is okay if you don't make four dishes for lunch, one can fill their stomach with one. It is okay if you don't work until midnight and don't get a promotion. Nobody remembers their job designation on their dying day.
Five, most important, don't get competitive with other women. Someone will make a better scrapbook for her school project than you. Another will lose more weight with a better diet. Your neighbour may make a six-dabba tiffin for her husband, you don't - big deal. Do your best, but don't keep looking out for the report card, and definitely don't expect to top the class.

There is no ideal woman in this world, and if you strive to become one, there will be only one thing you will achieve for certain - "STRESS".
So breathe, chill, relax. Tell yourself you are beautiful, do your best and deserve a peaceful life. Anybody trying to take that away from you is making a mistake, not you. Your purpose of coming to this earth is not to please everyone. Your purpose is to offer what you have to the world, and have a good life in return.
The next time this survey comes, I don't want to see Indian women on top of the list. I want them to be the happiest women in the world. Now smile, before your mother-in-law shouts at you for wasting your time reading the newspaper. "
You have one life to live, so Live it!!!.......

The first thing I did after receiving this mail was Hugged my Friend L and informed G to also read it and we all promised that we should apply this in Life rather than just reading it as any other forward..  I also Frwded this mail to all my Girl Friends coz I loved it..

A simple message yet said in a very effective way.. In one way or the other I am also one among the women who contributed to that 87%....

  • The constant effort to please people, be it your MIL, be it your boss, be it @ work or be it to ur hubby,
  • Increasing chores/Responsibilities/demands from Family/boss/In-laws/Boss and reducing Physical strength
  • Office commuting/pressure/work/survival/politics
  • The need or want of finishing/Ticking as many tasks as possible in the ever growing "To-Do-List"
  • The constant irking guilt of not giving my 100% either @ home/Office/Relationship
  • A teeny weeny hope to please my hard to please MIL by my deeds
All this in vain just adds to one unwanted, uninvited Guest called "STRESS"

Hubby keeps saying - " Start Ignoring, Take things cooly, calm down, Breath" All in vain.....

Hope some words of wisdom from "Chethan Baba " will ease/reduce the constant accumulated Unwanted Guest called "Stress"
For now, i want to give Indian women five suggestions to reduce their stress levels.

Feeling Good!

I cant believe it but its true!!!

Yes Yes I have lost weight and it is shown (only for ppl who wanna see n acknowledge though) Yipppie!! I had given up hope that I will ever reduce.. Coz the graph kept on shooting up in one direction (Direction up) Now that I have shed some unwanted kilos I feeeeel great!! The feeling is so niceeeee

My hubby who hardly ever notices n comments/compliments did notice it n told me too, that is when even I realized the change... :)

When I came to Office 1st day after returning from Canada, the first colleague who saw me said "Hey u look great... U hv reduced a lot.. n skin look clear too, u look nice da" Wow Havent heard this for like many many years now!! It made my day...

With full confidence and hope to receive many more such compliments I stepped inside the office… Fresh new feeling… Met my x team-mates n there one lady passed a comment saying "Aaap toh kuch change hi nahin hue ho waise ke waise hi ho" :'((( sad me all the air in the balloon of happiness was punctured when immediately another X colleague came to my rescue and bandaged the punctured ballon by saying "Chup kar, she had lost a lot of weight n she looks great n skin is glowing tooo" Thanks M for saving my balloon..

Met my close friends over Lunch n I asked them their frank opinion to which they both said -
"You hv def lost weight here, here n here too (I am not telling u where all he he he :)) I am so Glad about it!!

My 3 Secret ingredients for this lil change WCH

Walking- I should say it was Brisk walking, Thanks to the clean, neat roads, pollution free environment and organized lanes....

Cooking- I used to enjoy cooking, stuff was easily accessible/available, I used to feel nice to cook, to feed my darling hubby. The vegetables, fruits, milk n curds were definitely filled with more nutrients. More than everything It was "MY KITCHEN" I used to cook whatere I/we wished to or sometimes even go out n eat when not in mood.. Freedom!!

Happiness-  More than anything I guess it was the Happy moments that we spent together.. It was just the 2 of us and we were free, happy, Loving, Caring, teasing, Pulling Legs, independent n free from all the tension n worries.. Like I hv written in one of my prev blogs we had a great time.. Better than what we had in our Honeymoon..  I guess it just gets sweeter day by day.. :)

Thanks to Canada that gave us all this and which planted a teeny weeny Hope that I can reduce if I made enough effort..

Self realization is v important, I am feeling it n I am enjoying it, n I am glad abt it!!!

Only Time will Tell

When In Canada B4 hubby joined started reading this book and the pace was good enough but couldn't touch it again when he was around (obvsly he took more priority here :))

In QMO trip in between Hubby's snoring I managed to read this book completely... Completely is not the word coz it is just first part of the 5 Clifton Chronicles . this is just a comma..

My Take on this -

Good start and has shown the same story in many people's perspective.. Did not like the part where Harry n Emma get so close to each other and their so called biological parents keep mum!! Hats off to Old Jack Tarr!!

The last part where Harry went to the sea become lil boring!! All in all its ok compared to Jeffrey's standards.. Still awaiting for his next book to see how he ends it

Waiting for his next book -"Sins of the father"

Long weekend in Toronto! QMO

Long weekend in Toronto was like placing a perfect cherry on the already delicious piece of cake!

Wat could I hv asked for when I am in Toronto for a month n my Hubby has joined me to spend 3 weekends with me one of which is a Long weekend!

We both had decided that we r going to have a blast, not thinking about money, expenditure and just have pure fun... although we both agreed on the fact that we cannot get such a golden time later in life..

After returning back to Blore
For Hubby it would be - Get up soon, drive to office (traffic n strain), after office back home, eat n sleep, run the errands on weekends n relax whenever u find time

For me - Get up soon, catch a early bus to office(Bus n the bad seats n traffic) , back from office, cook, eat, try to catch sleep. Weekends- lot of errands like cleaning the house, washing clothes, etc etc... with no time again there is a dreadful Monday waiting

We wanted to go to QMO(Quebec-Montreal-Ottawa) trip on the long weekend, hence booked one in the Jacco travels and waiting for the trip

The 3 day trip was too good and we travelled, visited places, clicked photos, relaxed in the 4 * hotels, not to mention running around and looking for Vegetarian food. I wouldn't complain abt it much as I survived with some veggie stuff that was available. Poor hubby also did not take NV and gave me company through

All in all it was a very satisfying weekend comprised of various activities all the best in itself -

  • Chatting with each other mostly pulling each others legs (last seat in the bus gave us a good adv of having more leg space and our space too :)
  • Apart from us there were only 2 more Indian (2 ladies) that gave us an advantage to speak in Kannada, loudly n frankly too, we even sang sons to ourselves... that was fun :)
  • Me reading a novel (and completed one too) when he was snoring to glory
  • Watching movie in the video coach bus
  • Laughing when trying to decipher the dialogues made by the so called English speaking "Chinese guide",
  • Hearing people chat in god knows wat language
  • Watch people barge into the hotel and grab the food (plz don't remind me the food as I don't know wat was wat) especially when it was a Buffet Lunch
  • Visiting places and clicking photos, Exploring many places by ourselves
  • Having arguments on whether to buy something or not (mostly it will be he saying "Yes" and me saying "No")
  • Visit to the Biodome, watching the penguins, birds and fishes (oh it was fun)
  • Sitting in a nice shady place ont he bench watching Cars mostly the convertibles and aaaah the Harley Davidson bikes in Quebec, posing in front of a HD bike and the owner offered her helmet for me to pose with
  • Talking about how ppl here do not worry abt saving money for children/grandchildren and just live their life king size
  • In Quebec city when were given 3 hrs to explore, the Hip-Hop style show
  • Eating in one-Ice cream n Fighting over 1 chips packet
  • Me arguing with him to have chicken burger and he refusing to have just because I did not have anything to eat in Veg
  • Fighting for 1 camera to click snaps n over who is going to carry the luggage (contrary to "you carry not me" between us it is "I will carry not you")
  • Me happy to ask questions/doubts to others unlike he saying "Y do we need to ask, lets check out ourselves" n me saying "Its ok to ask ppl its not a favor" Arggggggg
  • He sometimes even refuses to request people to take a snap of us together which I completely oppose and say "Its ok to ask this favor" Grrrrrrr
  • @ Cruise ride in 1000 Island just watching the water + small Islands with 1 or 2 houses in each, enjoying the sea and the sky and the calmness
  • I guess the list just grows if I keep remembering....
In the last few days I realized few things

In the last 10 months and over more than 10 years of knowing each other.. there is still so much to know abt each other, discover each other n the small nitty gritty issues between us brings us more close to each other... The fights, arguments, silent moments, time spent with each other is the best time I have ever had, better than the time we spent in honeymoon...

I am looking forward to spend many more years n janmas with you... Hey did I tell you "I love you"

This is for the 10th month celebration of togetherness
